Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an effective complementary therapy that is based upon the principle of treating ‘like with like’. It has been used effectively and safely worldwide for over 200 years and has been available on the NHS since it was established in 1948. Homeopathic remedies are made from natural materials, often plants or minerals. Each remedy stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanism to reduce and eliminate disease with the aim of a long lasting cure.

By focusing on treating you as an individual and by looking at all the causes and effects illness has on you, Homeopathy can help rebalance you and get you back to feeling good and healthy. It can lift your mood, bring order back to a disordered digestive system and help you make positive changes that will benefit your health and wellbeing.

What can Homeopathy treat?

Homeopathy is very safe, unlike some conventional drugs; homeopathic medicines are non-addictive and have no dangerous side effects.

Because it is a safe and gentle form of medicine it can be used by anyone – from babies, expectant mothers to the elderly, regardless of what medication is currently taken. Homeopathic medicine will not interfere with nor is it contraindicated with any conventional medication. In fact, patients often find they are able to take less conventional medication as their health improves during the treatment process. Homeopathy can be used to help treat any of the following:

  • Allergies, hayfever & asthma

  • Arthritis & joint pain
  • Behavioral problems in childhood
  • Childbirth support

Treatment process

An individual, holistic approach is given in each consultation, together with lifestyle, dietary and nutritional advice. This ensures that you gain maximum benefit from each treatment and reach an optimum level of health as quickly as possible, and more importantly, that you are permanently able to sustain good health and energy for yourself following treatment.

Your first consultation will take just over an hour during which time a full case history is taken in complete confidence. As well as asking about your symptoms; as well as how you feel emotionally and the unique way in which your symptoms affect you. Questions about your lifestyle, eating habits, sleep patterns, medical history and state of mind all help to form a complete picture of you in order to prescribe the correct and individual homeopathic medicine.

Follow-up consultations take 30 – 45 minutes and are used to measure progress, monitor the overall healing process and prescribe a follow-up remedy if necessary. The duration and type of illness will determine how many appointments are necessary.

Homeopathic remedies come in the form of small and sweet tasting pillules which makes them pleasant and easy to take. A powdered form is available for babies. By combining sound nutritional advice and nutritional supplements (where necessary) with Homeopathic treatment, recovery can be accelerated and the immune system boosted.

Where nutritional deficiences or intolerances are suspected, relevant blood/stool tests or hair analysis might be suggested to help identify any maintaining causes.
